Each three tiles removed scores a varying number of points, depending on difficulty (fewer points across the board in easy mode.)
If the three tiles are only different in one dimension (say, only the background is different, like the first example in the play section) the match scores the fewest points. If all dimensions are different, the match scores the maximum points.
Frequently, there is more than one possible match on the board (almost always, in easy mode.) You can maximize points by finding the most difficult possible move.
Easy mode scoring:
A "hint" costs points and one move (whether or not there are any valid moves.)
If there are no moves left, "refresh" is free; otherwise "refresh" costs one move and some points.
When you are out of moves, you win. In easy mode, you can't lose (but it is possible to end up with a negative score.)
Difficult mode scoring:
In difficult mode, you can lose.
A "hint" costs one move and significant points (whether or not there are any valid moves.) Using "hint" allows you to continue the game if you really don't see a move, but there is one. Hints are expensive.
If there are moves left, and you use "refresh", you lose.
However, if you have correctly deduced that there are no moves, you get some extra moves and a lot of points for a "refresh". You get the most reward for the most difficult task - detecting that there are no more moves.
When you are out of moves, you win.
Your top five high scores are saved, whether or not you won. |
